Program Components
Exams
Exams accompany each topic area covered in the Competency Guides. Online and pencil-and-paper exam formats are offered. Most exams are proctored on campus at the end of a course by a faculty member who is a registered Instructor/Proctor.
Competency Guides
The new NRAEF ManageFirst Program® is designed to be comprehensive yet modular and convenient. The essential content needed to pass an exam is included in the Competency Guides. Most guides are 150-200 pages in length.
Each guide contains the key content for that topic area, as well as learning activities, assessments, case studies, suggested field trips & research projects and professional profiles.

Instructor's Resources are available electronically and include Microsoft® PowerPoint® presentations with instructor’s notes, recommended activities and discussion questions, and answers to all Competency Guide activities and case studies.
Certificates
The NRAEF provides a certificate to students upon successfully passing each exam. The certificates are endorsed by the NRAEF and feature the student’s name and the exam passed. The certificates are a lasting recognition of a student’s accomplishment and a signal to the industry that the student has mastered the competencies covered within a particular topic area. See a sample certificate.
New ManageFirst Professional™ (MFP™) Credential
Upon successful completion of five NRAEF ManageFirst Program exams (four core topics and one foundation topic including the ServSafe© Food Protection Manager examination) and requisite documented work experience, a student is awarded this NRAEF foodservice credential. See a sample NRAEF ManageFirst Professional Credential.
Instructor Resource Materials
Instructor's Resources are available electronically and include PowerPoint® presentations with instructor’s notes, recommended activities and discussion questions, and answers to all Competency Guide activities and case studies. See examples of Instructor's Resources. |
